Former Michael Essien has urged Ghanaians to throw their full support behind Mohammed Kudus as the Black Stars prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Kudus, currently with Tottenham Hotspur, played a central role in Ghana’s qualification campaign before an injury in January temporarily halted his momentum.

With the tournament approaching, Essien believes the 25-year-old remains Ghana’s brightest prospect on the global stage.

In an interview with FIFA, the former Chelsea midfielder hailed Kudus as Ghana’s standout performer, urging fans to ease the pressure on him while offering consistent backing.

“If I start talking about him [Kudus], we won’t finish!” he said with a smile. “I think he has showcased himself to the football world. He’s one of the biggest talents, and for Ghana, he’s our star. We have to protect him and give him all the love and confidence he needs.”

Essien also highlighted the importance of Kamaldeen Sulemana
