Men urged to be responsible fathers to help reduce robbery and streetism

Men have been urged to take up their responsibilities as fathers to help curb the rising cases of robbery and streetism in society.

This call was made by Margaret Atobrah, President of the Women’s Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the Obuasi Tutuka District, during a thanksgiving service to mark the end of their 6th annual conference in the Obuasi East Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Speaking to Adom News after the event, Madam Atobrah emphasized the need for fathers to be actively involved in the upbringing of their children.

She noted that when men neglect their roles, children are more likely to end up on the streets, vulnerable to vices such as drug abuse and robbery.

Rev. E. K. Nyarko, District Minister of the Church, also expressed concern over what he described as the poor contribution of many men to household responsibilities. He said this has forced many women to bear the burden alone.

He lamented that while many men publicly advocate moral values, their actions often contradict their words. Rev. Nyarko observed that children tend to appreciate the efforts of their mothers more than their fathers—something he said is evident in the way Mother’s Day is celebrated more enthusiastically than Father’s Day.

He called for a change in attitude among men to ensure a more stable and secure society.
