Medeama SC climbed back to the summit of the league table after edging Heart of Lions in a closely contested encounter on Saturday.
The Yellow and Mauve were in action at the Kpando Sports Stadium in the Matchday 16 fixtures, where a solitary strike from Kingsley Braye in the 20th minute proved decisive.
The narrow victory lifted Ibrahim Tanko’s side to the top of the standings with 30 points, underlining their strong title credentials this season. For Heart of Lions, the defeat saw them drop to seventh place, remaining on 23 points.
Medeama will look to sustain their momentum when they travel to face defending champions Bibiani GoldStars in an outstanding fixture at DUNs Park on Wednesday, December 31, before returning home to host Hearts of Oak.
Heart of Lions, meanwhile, will be aiming to arrest their dip in form when they take on regional rivals Hohoe United at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Sunday, January 4.
In another Matchday 16 fixture, Vision FC claimed a 1-0 victory over Nations FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex. Setsofia Agetey struck on the stroke of half-time to secure all three points for the hosts.
The result moved Vision FC up to 12th place with 18 points, while Nations FC slipped to 10th with 19 points. Vision FC will next travel to face Aduana FC, while Nations FC host Karela United in the Matchday 17 round of games.
