Medeama SC made an impressive start to the new season by beating Nations FC 2-0 to win the 2026 Champion of Champions at TNA Park in Tarkwa.

The Ghana Premier League champions took the lead in the 28th minute after Nations FC were penalised for a handball inside the penalty area. Fatawu Sulemana converted the spot-kick to put the hosts ahead.

Medeama continued to dictate the game after the break and sealed victory through former Nations FC player Emmanuel Annor, who finished confidently to double the lead.

The win hands the Yellow and Mauve side early silverware ahead of what promises to be a demanding campaign, with continental football looming.

Medeama’s attention now turns to the CAF Champions League, where they will host TP Mazembe of DR Congo in the first leg of their preliminary-round tie on 6 September.

FA Cup holders Nations FC also begin their African campaign this week, travelling to Mali to face Diarra FC in the opening leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round tie on 5 September.

The Champion of Champions serves as the traditional curtain-raiser for the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season, which begins this weekend.
