Maxwell Konadu’s move to Bibiani GoldStars has reportedly collapsed, Asempa Sports understands.
The former Black Stars assistant coach had been strongly linked with the Miners’ top job following the dismissal of Frimpong Manso.
Manso was relieved of his duties after GoldStars’ 2-0 defeat to Algerian side JS Kabylie in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary tie at the Accra Sports Stadium.
His sacking came as a surprise to many, given that he had guided the club to their first-ever league title just last season.
With Konadu now out of contention, assistant coach Nana Yaw Amankwah has been handed temporary charge as the club works to stabilise its form until a new head coach is appointed.
Reports suggest GoldStars are now leaning toward appointing an expatriate coach to lead the team through the current campaign.
Meanwhile, the Miners bounced back to winning ways with an impressive 3-1 victory over Heart of Lions on Monday at DUN’s Park, ending a run of two straight defeats.
GoldStars will next face Berekum Chelsea in a rescheduled midweek clash on Thursday, October 23, with kick-off scheduled at 15:00 GMT.
