The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man captured in a viral Facebook video assaulting a woman believed to be his wife at their residence in Ofankor, within the Ga East Municipality.

This was confirmed in a statement issued by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo on Tuesday, November 18.

Police identified the suspect as John Odartey Lamptey, who was picked up on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the family home after the video sparked widespread public outrage.

According to the CID, two of his siblings — Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey — were also arrested for allegedly attempting to attack a female tenant they suspected of recording and circulating the footage.

Officers intervened in time to rescue the tenant during the operation.

Investigators say efforts are underway to locate and safeguard the woman seen in the video, who fled the house before police arrived.

The statement reiterated the Service’s commitment to tackling domestic violence and ensuring that all offenders face the full rigours of the law.
