
A joint Police and Military operation in Nkwanta has led to the arrest of a 50-year-old man, Francis Donkor, for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
The operation, conducted on Friday, August 1, 2025, around 6:15 pm, was based on credible intelligence that individuals believed to be involved in recent violent riots in Nkwanta and surrounding areas were in possession of weapons.
The security team swiftly moved to a location opposite King’s Filling Station Down, where the area was cordoned off to ensure safety and prevent any escape.
A thorough search of the premises led to the discovery of two single-barrel guns and four AAA ammunition in the suspect’s room.
Donkor was immediately arrested and is currently in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations.
The retrieved weapons and ammunition have been retained as evidence.
