The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a man for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition at Nsawam-Adoagyiri in Ghana’s Eastern Region.
The suspect, identified as Abdul Rauf Salami, a resident of Adoagyiri Zongo, was apprehended around 9:30 pm on Friday, 23rd May, during a targeted police operation. The operation focused on all entry and exit points of Adoagyiri following recent disturbances in the area.
A police statement revealed that items retrieved from the suspect included two pump-action guns, 64 rounds of AA ammunition, a cutlass, a knife, and an ammunition vest.
Salami is currently in police custody and assisting with investigations. Authorities have confirmed he will be arraigned before court soon to face charges.
“We would like to assure the public that we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of the Adoagyiri Township,” the police said, urging residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
