Man accused of killing lover holds intense prayers in court

Timilehin Ajayi, a gospel singer standing trial for the gruesome murder of his alleged girlfriend, 24-year-old NYSC member Salome Adaidu, stunned onlookers in court as he engaged in an intense prayer session during proceedings on Tuesday, May 21, 2025.

Ajayi appeared before the court in connection with the shocking January 12 incident that took place in New Karshi, within the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Salome, who was serving her National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with Nicon Insurance in Abuja, was allegedly murdered and dismembered by Ajayi after visiting him at his residence in the Papalana area.

Investigations revealed that Ajayi was caught attempting to dispose of Salome’s remains. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the murder, showing no remorse and citing infidelity as his justification for the crime.

Witnesses in the courtroom described the atmosphere as tense as Ajayi knelt and fervently prayed, seemingly seeking divine intervention amid the trial.

His actions sparked public outrage, especially considering the horrific nature of the crime and his earlier lack of remorse.

The trial is ongoing, and the court has yet to deliver any ruling. Meanwhile, Salome’s family continues to demand justice for the young corps member whose life was tragically cut short in such a brutal manner.
