A 40-year-old man, George Anim, has died while in police custody at the Twifo Praso Police Station, three days after his arrest over allegations of defiling a 14-year-old girl.
Anim was first detained at the Assin Awinsan District Police Station on November 25, 2025, before being transferred to Twifo Praso, where he was later found dead.
Family members who viewed the body said they discovered marks they believe suggest he may have been assaulted while in detention.
Troubled by the circumstances surrounding his death, the family formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), demanding answers and an independent probe.
Following the petition, the IGP dispatched a delegation to meet the bereaved family and assured them that the matter would be thoroughly investigated to establish the cause of death and determine whether any officers were culpable.
The family is demanding justice in the case where foul play is found to be involved.
