The Director of Communications for the Bawumia 2024 campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has criticized the Mahama administration’s 120-day social contract, stating that it appears to lack substance and may prioritize electoral messaging over strategic planning.
Speaking on Channel One TV, Mr. Aboagye asserted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) developed the contract primarily to attract votes in the upcoming 2024 elections, lacking a clear plan for implementation.
“My assessment of the 120-day contract tells you that the government did not come into office with a plan. They came into office on the back of lies and promises they believed were going to sound nice in the ears of the voter, just to get the vote. Now you are stuck with reality,” he said.
He suggested that the Mahama-led administration has focused on addressing immediate challenges during its initial months in office, rather than implementing a comprehensive policy agenda.
“In the past 120 days, at best, what I think they would have been doing is adjusting to the reality of the day and now looking out for ways to deal with the situation,” he stated.
Aboagye raised questions about the actual deliverables achieved during the contract period and indicated that there may be a focus on showmanship rather than substantive policy reforms by the government.
“If you look at the contract critically, the tangibles have not been done. The things that will push us forward have not been fulfilled, and that is because those things are difficult to do in 120 days. So far, it’s just all about the launch,” he remarked.
