President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned government appointees against complacency, reminding them that authority is not permanent and must be exercised with humility, empathy, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people.

He delivered the message during his First Anniversary Non-Denominational Thanksgiving Service held at the forecourt of the Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 7.

According to the President, thanksgiving should go beyond expressions of gratitude and reflect a firm commitment to ethical governance, national unity, and service to the most vulnerable in society.

President Mahama said the year ahead would test the resolve, patience, and discipline of those entrusted with leadership, while also presenting opportunities to deepen ongoing reforms and accelerate national development.

He stressed that leadership is a temporary trust, urging government appointees to recommit themselves to selfless service for the collective good of Ghanaians.

“Let us move forward with humility, let us lead with empathy, and let us govern with courage. The year ahead will demand even more from us. It will test our resolve, patience, and discipline, but it will also offer opportunities to deepen the reforms we have started, accelerate growth, and ensure development touches every part of our country. Let us never forget that leadership is stewardship. It is temporary and fleeting. Authority is a trust held on behalf of the people,” he stated.
