Mahama to set up inter-ministerial committee to implement economic dialogue recommendations

-

President John Mahama has unveiled plans to establish an inter-ministerial committee to oversee the timely and transparent implementation of key recommendations from the 2025 National Economic Dialogue.

The President made the announcement on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, when the report from the dialogue was presented to him.

He explained that the committee—comprising key ministries and observers from civil society and the private sector—will coordinate all related government actions.

“In the coming days, I will issue an executive directive establishing an inter-ministerial implementation committee to coordinate all actions flowing from the dialogue report,” he said.

He added that the committee is expected to publish its final implementation bulletin by August 2025.

President Mahama further described the document as more than just a policy blueprint.

“The final report of the National Economic Dialogue is more than just a policy document. It is a covenant between the government and the governed, between evidence and action, and between vision and results,” he noted.

The President commended Ghanaians for their confidence in the dialogue process and reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to turning the report’s findings into tangible reforms.

“We asked Ghanaians to trust this process, and you did. Today, I reaffirm our end of the commitment. We will implement these reforms with honesty, urgency, and discipline. We will govern not in secrecy but in openness. We will place national interest above every narrow consideration,” he stated.

The dialogue, held in March 2025, brought together economists, business leaders, policymakers, and citizen groups to deliberate on sustainable economic reforms aimed at stabilising Ghana’s economy and restoring growth.
