President John Mahama is set to address the nation at 9 p.m. tonight, as Ghana grieves the tragic loss of eight lives in Wednesday’s military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District, Ashanti Region.
This follows a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the Ceremonial Gardens of Jubilee House earlier in the day.
The tragic incident claimed eight lives, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.
Also lost in the crash were Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former NDC parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East; and Dr. Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice Chairman and former Kumasi Mayor.
The rest were personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces identified as Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Tributes continue to pour in for the fallen heroes as the nation also embarks on three days of national mourning, in line with a directive from the President.
