President John Dramani Mahama has returned to Ghana after a five-day state visit to China, undertaken at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
He was welcomed on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Thursday afternoon by Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.
As the African Union’s Champion for Gender and Development Issues, President Mahama travelled to Beijing to take part in the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women, co-hosted by China and UN Women.
The gathering reaffirmed commitments made three decades ago during the Fourth World Conference on Women, focusing on advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment.
During his visit, President Mahama held bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping and China’s Premier, Li Qiang, discussing areas of mutual cooperation.
The President, accompanied by First Lady Lordina Mahama, also took part in the Presidential Business Forum in Beijing, which sought to deepen economic and trade relations between Ghana and China.
