President John Mahama has nominated Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Dr. Baidoo, an Orthopaedic Surgeon at KATH, treats both orthopaedic and trauma cases in the Department of Surgery.

The appointment was announced in a letter dated April 30, 2025, signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama.

The letter, addressed to the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, instructs him to ensure that the necessary steps are taken to formalize the appointment in accordance with the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525), as amended.

Dr. Baidoo succeeds Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, who was relieved of his duties last week.

Prof. Addai-Mensah, who had served as CEO since 2022, oversaw several key initiatives, including infrastructure upgrades such as the Asantehene’s Heal KATH project.
