Former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, has called for President John Dramani Mahama to be charged for causing financial loss to the state if he fails to take action on a recent ethics controversy involving Sammy Gyamfi.
His comments follow a viral video showing Sammy Gyamfi, Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, gifting an undisclosed amount of US dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa.
The footage has sparked widespread public backlash and questions about conduct in public office.
“If President Mahama is serious about the code of conduct he launched just a week ago, then he must act. If he fails to do so, it means he has caused financial loss to the state and should be held accountable,” Nii Nartey said in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem.
Sammy Gyamfi has since apologized, stating that the cash gift was a private act of generosity that was unintentionally caught on camera.
Nonetheless, the incident has prompted the Chief of Staff to summon him for clarification.
