Mahama is not innocent in OSP’s actions – Assafuah [Audio]

The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has expressed disappointment in President John Mahama, accusing him of pretending not to be aware of recent political developments, including the detention of broadcaster Paul Adom-Otchere.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Assafuah alleged that Mr. Mahama is fully aware of actions taken by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), particularly the incarceration of the former Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) Board Chair, but is feigning ignorance.

“President Mahama is a pretender,” Mr. Assafuah declared.
“According to Julius Debrah, one of his close associates, when Mahama wants to dismiss someone, he pretends not to know and shifts the blame to the Chief of Staff.”

Mr. Assafuah claimed that Mr. Mahama has tacitly endorsed the detention of Adom-Otchere but is publicly acting uninformed—despite what he described as a trend of political prosecutions under his administration.

His comments come after the OSP detained Adom-Otchere on Thursday, July 31, following several hours of interrogation over a revenue assurance audit contract signed during his time at GACL.

The broadcaster reportedly failed to meet bail conditions, which include presenting two landed properties registered in his name—a condition he claims he cannot meet, as he owns no such property in Ghana.

Mr. Assafuah argued that the President’s silence on such a high-profile case reflects disregard for the Constitution and signals support for what he described as selective justice.
