President John Dramani Mahama has announced a 60 percent salary increment for Community Fire Service Assistants, effective at the end of the month.
The directive was revealed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, during the graduation ceremony of 894 Fire Service Assistants at the Ghana National Fire Service Training School in Jamestown.
The graduating class, comprising 360 males and 534 females, underwent weeks of intensive training under the Fire Service Assistantship Program.
This batch brings the total number of recruits trained under the YEA’s memorandum of understanding with the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to 5,000 personnel.
Clad in his ceremonial Chief Fire Assistant uniform, Mr. Basintale praised the recruits for their resilience and discipline during training. He further assured them of government’s commitment to enhancing their welfare.
The salary increment, he said, is aimed at boosting morale among Community Fire Service Assistants, who play a critical role in fire prevention, safety education, and emergency response across the country.
