President John Dramani Mahama has described the December 7 elections as a “national reawakening,” signaling a turning point in Ghana’s political direction.
Speaking at his first media encounter on Wednesday, September 10, the President said the polls were not only about choosing new leadership but also about ushering in honesty, accountability, and a reset in governance.
He noted that his administration inherited a nation burdened by hardships and disillusioned by excuses from the political elite, emphasizing that Ghanaians were yearning for leadership that delivers results rather than empty promises.
“The December 7 election was a national reawakening. It was a change of call, not just for leadership, but a change of direction, honesty, accountability, and a reset,” he said.
“It was a different kind of government, one that listens, acts, and cares. We inherited a nation tired of excuses, weighed down by hardships, and yearning for leadership that performs, not just promises,” he added.
President Mahama assured Ghanaians of his government’s commitment to addressing the country’s challenges and rebuilding trust in leadership. “We’re here to restore the soul of the nation and revive its economy,” he stated.
