Deputy Asante Kotoko captain Lord Amoah faces an extended spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury during last week’s Ghana Premier League clash against Young Apostles.
The 22-year-old defender, who joined from Berekum Chelsea, lasted just 19 minutes in Kotoko’s 2-0 victory on matchday 23 before being stretchered off following a heavy challenge.
Medical tests, including an MRI scan, have confirmed a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and damage to his medial meniscus — injuries that typically require lengthy rehabilitation. Surgery is expected in the coming days.
The setback is a major blow for both the player and the club. Amoah had been enjoying a stellar campaign and was reportedly in contention for a maiden senior national team call-up ahead of upcoming international friendlies.
His absence was already felt over the weekend, as Kotoko were held to a 1-1 draw by Vision FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on matchday 24.
Since joining ahead of the 2024/25 season, Amoah has become a key figure in the Porcupine Warriors’ lineup. Across all competitions, the attack-minded full-back has made 23 appearances and scored an impressive nine goals — a remarkable tally for a defender.
