Loose meter connection sparks fire at Sun Shine Roman

A house at Sun Shine Roman in Suhum narrowly escaped total destruction after a fire broke out due to a loose electricity meter connection.

The Suhum Municipal Fire Station confirmed that a crew of eight firefighters, led by ASTNO Agyeman Prempeh, was swiftly dispatched to the scene.

The team managed to bring the blaze under control within 28 minutes and fully extinguished it in 37 minutes.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire started from a loose connection in the ECG meter, which caused a short circuit and ignited nearby combustible materials.

The occupant, Madam Delali Ativor, said she experienced a power fluctuation shortly before the fire erupted.

The incident caused partial damage to cooking utensils and completely destroyed the porch area, along with two ECG meters.

Fortunately, firefighters saved two chamber-and-hall units and a nearby semi-detached house from being consumed by the flames.

No injuries or casualties were recorded.

Fire officials have urged residents to ensure proper electrical installations and conduct routine checks to prevent similar incidents.
