Ghana’s 69th Independence anniversary celebration today, March 6, 2026, is currently ongoing at the forecourt of the Jubilee House.

The day marks the then Prime Minister, Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s declaration of independence from the United Kingdom on 6 March 1957.

In 2017, President Akufo-Addo announced the celebration would be rotated and held in each region annually.

However, after President John Mahama assumed office in 2025, the event has been held at the forecourt of the Jubilee House as part of efforts to reduce public expenditure.

This year marks the second consecutive year the national parade will take place at Jubilee House, the seat of government..

This year’s anniversary is themed ‘Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope’.

Four Presidents, John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo, as well as members of the diplomatic corps, the clergy, traditional leaders, security chiefs and personnel, among other dignitaries, are present to participate in the event.
