Should the party win power in 2020, it will improve quality of education under the policy, former Ghana’s High Commissioner to India, Sam Pee Yalley has said.

He explained that, quality of education, especially in the second cycle institutions has dwindled due to free SHS.

The NDC has consistently criticised the way the free SHS policy has been rolled out. Its flagbearer, former President John Mahama said he will hold more consultations and possibly review the policy if he returns to power.

In support, Mr Yalley on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, said the second coming of the NDC is on a rescue mission.

He maintained that, if the status quo is made to remain, Ghana’s education system will run into the abyss.

The former Indian High Commissioner stressed that every social intervention must be targeted to benefit the poor and venerable in society.

With the way government is implementing free SHS, he is certain the rich in society are rather benefiting.

“Free SHS must be reviewed so that the poor will not end up subsidising for the rich. We don’t need this mass production of half baked graduates,” Ambassador Yalley added.
