Akuapem North MP, Sammi Awuku, has called for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the party prepares for the Akwatia by-election scheduled for September 2, 2025.
He made the call during the acclamation of Solomon Kwame Asumadu as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate.
Mr. Awuku, a former National Organiser of the party, said the late Akwatia MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi, worked tirelessly for the constituency and must be honoured through the party’s victory.
He urged constituents to vote massively for Mr. Asumadu as a way of continuing Kumi’s legacy.
In his remarks, Mr. Asumadu appealed for an end to internal divisions, stressing the need for unity to build on the foundation laid by the late MP.
Other NPP executives present also echoed similar sentiments, urging full support for Mr. Asumadu to retain the seat for the party.
