Leadership is about vision and ideas, not wealth – Bawumia

-

New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasized that true political leadership is defined by vision and transformative ideas, not personal riches.

Speaking to party delegates in the Dormaa West constituency on Wednesday, October 22, as part of his campaign tour of the Bono Region, the former Vice President stated that Ghanaians choose leaders based on their ability to drive development and improve lives, not on how wealthy they are.

Dr. Bawumia, one of five aspirants vying to lead the NPP into the 2028 presidential election, stressed that the strength of a candidate’s ideas, rather than their material possessions, should determine their suitability for leadership.

“Ghanaians do not vote based on personal wealth but on the ideas a candidate offers. No one uses their own money to develop a country. You cannot ask people to look at your properties and vote for you,” he said.

“What truly matters are the ideas you present to the electorate, ideas that can transform lives and drive national development. It is not about money; it is about vision and ideas, and that is what I bring,” he added.

Dr. Bawumia urged delegates to elect a leader with clear, practical, and transformative solutions to move Ghana forward, rather than one who relies on wealth as a campaign message.
