Late Omane Boamah was more than a political strategist – NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has paid glowing tribute to the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as “utterly fearless” and far more than just a political strategist.

The remarks were delivered by NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, on behalf of the party during an interdenominational state funeral at the Black Star Square on Friday, August 15.

The former Ketu North MP lauded Dr. Omane Boamah’s service and unwavering dedication to both party and country.

The former NDC Director of IT and Elections was one of eight people who died in the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

Other victims included Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East; Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice Chairman; and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

The rest were three crew members: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

On Sunday, August 10, Dr. Murtala and Alhaji Muniru were laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites. The remaining six will be buried today at the military cemetery in Tse Addo, Accra.
