Late Mamponghene was a unifier – Dr. Amofa

-

Renowned philanthropist and public health specialist, Dr. Mike Amofa Dankwah, has paid glowing tribute to the late Mamponghene and Krontihene of Asanteman, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, describing him as a unifier.

According to Dr. Amofa, the late chief will be remembered for his remarkable dedication to peace and development in the Mampong area.

“Daasebre was a peacemaker. He brought unity among his people. We will forever miss him,” he said, after joining scores of mourners to pay their last respects over the weekend.

Daasebre Osei Bonsu II ascended the Asante Mampong throne in 1996, becoming the 28th occupant of the Silver Stool and Krontihene of Asanteman. He passed away in April 2025 at the age of 85.

His burial rites, which drew thousands of mourners from all walks of life, were held in the Ashanti Regional town of Mampong. The royal farewell took place from June 6 to 9 and climaxed on Monday with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, honouring the final rites.
