Matchday 34 of the 2024-25 La Liga season sees the heavyweight trio of Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona face up to challenges from Alaves, Celta Vigo and Real Valladolid respectively.

Atletico will be in action early on Saturday afternoon, as they head to the Mendizorroza Stadium for a match against Alaves. While Los Rojiblancos would normally be the clear favourites, the Basque side is fighting against the threat of relegation and will be hungry to capitalise on any weakness shown by the visitors from Madrid.
“We’re a physical team. The numbers show it. We’ll try to be a physical team, and hopefully we can put on a great performance,” said Alaves manager Eduardo Coudet. “If we let them run around with space, it’s very difficult to counteract. A game isn’t just about defending or attacking. We have to be intense and not give their players time to think.”
Real Madrid will be in action on Saturday night, welcoming Celta Vigo to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Los Blancos have dominated Os Celestes (Celta have not beaten Real since a Copa del Rey tie way back in 2017), but manager Carlo Ancelotti is urging his team to take nothing for granted.
“The message is quite simple: not to assume,” said the Italian tactician. “We have to do both things, attacking and defending, properly.”
Barcelona will have the chance to respond to Real’s result early on Sunday afternoon when they face Real Valladolid at the Jose Zorrilla Municipal Stadium. The hosts will be relegated at the end of the season and have nothing to play for, but the Blaugrana will still need to be wary to remain at the highest possible level as they chase the league title.
“[The match against Valladolid] will not be an easy game. The team should enjoy what they’re doing, and we are ready to do it. We want to play well for ourselves and also for the travelling fans who always support us. We won’t let our concentration drop,” said Barca manager Hansi Flick.
This round of Spanish top-flight action also features the Basque derby between Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao at the Reale Arena in San Sebastian on Sunday night – one of the most iconic and entertaining rivalries in La Liga.
