Kwapong Nursing College principal raises alarm over substandard boys’ hostel

The Principal of the College of Nursing and Midwifery at Kwapong in the Ahafo Region, Nana Kwame Amoh Adinkrah, has expressed grave concern over the poor state of the school’s male hostel, warning that the situation is affecting teaching and learning.

Speaking to Adom News during the launch of the college’s 10th anniversary celebration, themed “Shelter, A Resource for Academic Excellence,” the principal explained that since the school’s establishment in 2015, it has been unable to provide a befitting  accommodation facility for its male students.

According to him, the small size of the current hostel has created congestion, which poses serious health and safety risks to the students.

He added that as part of the anniversary celebrations scheduled for November this year, the school will use the occasion to appeal to government, philanthropists, and NGOs to support efforts to put up a standard hostel facility.

The Chief of Kwapong, Nana Obuobi Forkuo I, also highlighted the broader infrastructural challenges facing the college.

He noted that, compared to other institutions in the region established after Kwapong Nursing College, the school lags behind in facilities such as a proper kitchen, skills laboratory, teachers’ quarters, and additional lecture halls.

He called on government and stakeholders in education to prioritize the development of the college to enhance teaching and learning.
