Kwame Poku seals permanent move to QPR from Peterborough

Ghanaian midfielder Kwame Poku has signed a permanent deal with English Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR).

The 23-year-old makes the switch after a successful four-year stint with League One outfit Peterborough United, where he featured in 147 matches, scoring 30 goals and providing an equal number of assists in all competitions.

Speaking to QPR’s media team after completing the move, Poku expressed his excitement about joining the club.

“I feel like the project they’re building here excites me and I want to be part of taking QPR to that next level,” he told the club’s media.

“There are good players here and I think it’s exciting times for the club.”

Poku brings with him previous experience in the Championship, having played in the division during the 2019/20 campaign. Reflecting on that time, he noted his growth since then.

“I think I had some good performances, good on the ball, I just think what separated them from now was the statistical side of it,” he said.

“Coming into this team where there are a lot of good attacking players and good all-around players as well, I think I’ll create more chances, be at the end of a lot of chances and get more numbers.”

Poku has represented Ghana at senior level once, making his debut for the Black Stars in March 2021.
