The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West Municipality, Tamimu Halidu, has commissioned a newly constructed four-unit, two-storey Nursery and Kindergarten block at the Nkawkaw Zongo Islamic School, in a move aimed at strengthening early childhood education in the area.

The project, which began as a community self-help initiative and was later completed under the government’s educational infrastructure programme, is intended to improve access to quality basic education and provide a safe, child-friendly learning environment.

The facility comprises spacious classrooms, offices, washrooms and other auxiliary amenities to support effective teaching and learning.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Halidu said the project reflects government’s commitment to investing in education, particularly within Zongo communities.

He stressed that early childhood education remains a critical priority, as it lays the foundation for academic growth, character development and national progress.

He urged school authorities and teachers to maintain the facility to ensure its long-term use, while calling on parents to enrol and retain their children in school. The MCE also appealed to the community to support school management efforts in maintaining discipline and promoting quality education.

The Municipal Education Director, George Yankyera, expressed appreciation to the government and the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly for addressing a long-standing infrastructure need at the school.

He assured that the Ghana Education Service would work closely with school authorities to safeguard the facility and enhance teaching and learning outcomes.

Pupils and teachers of the Nkawkaw Zongo Islamic School welcomed the new classroom block, noting that it would ease overcrowding and significantly improve learning conditions at the school.
