Thirteen contestants have been officially unveiled for this year’s Miss Tourism Kwahu pageant, an initiative aimed at promoting tourism and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kwahu ahead of the annual Easter celebrations.

The colourful unveiling ceremony took place at the Abene Queen Mother’s Palace and was attended by traditional leaders, tourism stakeholders, and members of the public.

The pageant is part of the activities lined up for the widely celebrated Kwahu Easter festivities, which attract thousands of visitors from across Ghana and beyond each year.

Organizer Apostle Stephen Awuah explained that the competition goes beyond beauty. He said the ultimate goal is to select a tourism ambassador who will actively promote the culture, history, and developmental potential of the Kwahu enclave.

He noted that many of Kwahu’s attractive tourism sites remain largely unknown and under-promoted, stressing that the pageant will serve as a platform to spotlight such destinations and encourage domestic tourism.

The Kontihene of the Kwahu Traditional Area, Nana Simpe Owiredu III, welcomed the contestants, urging them to feel at home as they embark on the journey. He encouraged them to proudly project the unique traditions and values of Kwahu.

Nana Simpe Owiredu III also called on Ghanaians to visit Kwahu during this year’s Easter celebration, assuring the public that the area remains peaceful and ready to host visitors.

The Miss Tourism Kwahu pageant is expected to add momentum to the Easter festivities, reinforcing Kwahu’s position as one of Ghana’s leading seasonal tourism destinations.
