The Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori-Agyeman Boadi, has issued a firm directive to traders operating along the roads at Bantama Market, instructing them to vacate the area as part of efforts to restore order and improve traffic flow in the busy commercial zone.
During a visit to the market, the Mayor engaged traders and explained that the Assembly has identified new trading spaces that will be allocated to affected vendors.
The allocation exercise is scheduled to begin tomorrow and continue through Friday, giving traders a window to secure their spots before full enforcement begins.
He encouraged traders to cooperate with the process, noting that the relocation is intended to enhance safety, reduce congestion, and create a more organized trading environment for shoppers and vendors alike.
According to him, the Assembly will start clearing the roads on Monday, meaning traders who fail to move voluntarily may lose their wares during the enforcement exercise.
Market authorities and city task force members are expected to supervise the transition over the next few days to ensure a smooth and orderly relocation.
The directive forms part of broader efforts by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to sanitize trading areas across the city and strengthen compliance with market regulations.
