The Kumasi Central Prisons, as part of its reformation process, presented five male inmates to participate in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The inmates, aged between 20 and 25 years, are writing their exams at Bantama Center.

Kumasi metropolitan Chief Executive, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, in his tour to BECE centers, encouraged the inmates and assured them of support in paying their WASSCE registration fees.

“I am happy to see these inmates writing some of the BECE and it’s a symbol of hope to their life,” said the mayor.

The MCE also visited the Opoku Ware School Center in Nhyiaso constituency, the Adventist SHS and Asanteman SHS centres in Bantama Constituency and Serwaa Nyarko SHS Center in the Manhyia North constituency.

In his tour, he urged the students to desist from examination malpractice.

“Your destiny commences today, and you are to take the exams seriously to have your future,” Mr. Boadi entreated the candidates.

A total number of 120,285 pupils are participating in the ongoing BECE at 432 centers in the Ashanti region.
