Kpando MCE begins inventory of dilapidated roads ahead of rehabilitation works

The Kpando Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Killian Donkor, has begun an inventory of neglected township and adjoining roads in the municipality to pave the way for rehabilitation works.

Joined by engineers from the Regional Urban Roads Department, Mr. Donkor toured several deteriorated roads, including those in Kpando Torkor, where residents staged a protest in 2021 over poor infrastructure.

Speaking to the media, the MCE said the exercise forms part of a joint effort with the Member of Parliament for the area, Sebastian Deh, to deliver on their campaign promise of improving road networks.

“Today’s exercise is to take stock of the roads that are in poor condition for government to act on. This project is very dear to our Honourable MP, Sebastian Deh, and it is also in fulfilment of our 2024 campaign promise. President John Dramani Mahama is committed to ensuring that the deplorable roads in Kpando are fixed,” Mr. Donkor stated.

He further assured that contractors will soon be assigned to begin work not only in Kpando but across the Volta Region. Key roads earmarked for construction include the Kpando Torkor Road, Aloye Konda Road, Agorneme Road, and access roads to Bishop Herman SHS.

Some roadside traders expressed optimism that the initiative would ease their long-standing struggles, noting that dust during the dry season has affected their businesses and posed health risks.

They commended the MCE and President Mahama for the intervention, expressing hope that the project will bring lasting relief to the municipality.
