Residents of Kpandai are reacting to the Tamale High Court ruling that annulled the 2024 parliamentary election, which had declared the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Matthew Nyindam as the winner.

The court ordered a rerun within 30 days after identifying irregularities in 41 out of 152 polling stations.

Following the ruling, the NPP filed a notice of appeal and a motion for stay of execution. MP Matthew Nyindam maintained that he remains the legitimate representative of the people.

“I’m still the MP for Kpandai,” he insisted, expressing confidence that the decision will be overturned.

The case was initiated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, who alleged discrepancies in Form 8A (pink sheets) from the affected polling stations. The NDC welcomed the court’s decision and accused the Electoral Commission of attempting to manipulate the results.

Meanwhile, residents of the Kpandai constituency have shared mixed reactions. While some support the court’s decision and hope it will pave the way for development, others believe a rerun will produce a cleaner and more credible outcome.
