Interim head coach of Asante Kotoko, Abdul Karim Zito, has declared his side’s determination to go all out in pursuit of the MTN FA Cup title.
The Porcupine Warriors, currently fourth in the Ghana Premier League standings with 51 points and four games remaining, are set to face Berekum Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals this weekend at TNA Park in Tarkwa.
Speaking to the media after their goalless draw against arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium, Zito emphasized Kotoko’s priority shift toward the FA Cup.
“When you look at the two sides of the coin — the FA Cup and the league — I think, if I’m not going to be selfish, we have to push more for the FA Cup,” he said.
“So we are going to push more for the FA Cup than the league. I have to be honest with you,” Zito added.
Victory over Berekum Chelsea will earn Kotoko a place in the final, where they will meet the winner of the other semifinal clash between Golden Kick and Attram De Visser Soccer Academy.
