Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, has explained the circumstances surrounding Albert Amoah’s return to the club.

Amoah completed a long-term move to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi earlier this year in a deal reportedly worth $250,000, shortly after Kotoko’s exit from the CAF Confederation Cup at the preliminary stage.

The former Great Olympics forward, however, has returned to Kumasi on a season-long loan after finding limited playing opportunities in Libya.

Speaking in an interview on Akoma FM, Duku dismissed suggestions that Amoah’s return was unexpected, describing it as a routine occurrence in modern football.

“I am surprised that many people are describing Albert Amoah’s return as shocking news. Situations like this are not unusual in football, where a club signs a player and later decides to release him on loan,” he said.

Duku also revealed that Kotoko maintained close communication with both the player and Al Ahly Benghazi throughout the process.

“When they decided to release him on loan, Kotoko was the first option they considered, and we gladly accepted, taking into account Albert’s legacy at the club,” he added.

It remains unclear whether Amoah will be available for selection when Kotoko face Bibiani GoldStars on Saturday at DUN’s Park, with kick-off scheduled for 15:30 GMT.
