Konongo Odumasi residents appeal to gov’t for new fire tender

Residents of Konongo Odumasi in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality of the Ashanti Region are appealing to the government to provide a new fire tender.

According to the residents, the fire tender used by the Ghana National Fire Service in the area has been unreliable for the past eight years, leaving the community vulnerable and unsafe during fire outbreaks.

The convener of the concerned residents, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the situation hampers the work of the Ghana National Fire Service in the area.

“For the past eight years, we have endured a lot. When there is a fire outbreak, we always lose lives and properties because the fire tender in this area is always faulty and needs repair. We are appealing to the government to come to our rescue,” he said.

Asante Akyem Central has recorded a high number of fire outbreaks over the past two years, during which lives and properties worth millions have been lost.
