Konkontreso CHPS Compound commissioned in 2017 left to rot

The Chief of Konkontreso in the Ahafo Region, Nana Owusu Appau Ababio, has expressed deep concern over a CHPS compound commissioned in 2017 that remains unused eight years after its completion.

Speaking to Adom News during a visit by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asutifi South, Benjamin Assabil Donkor, the chief said the absence of health personnel at the facility has left residents without access to basic healthcare.

“The community continues to face serious challenges accessing healthcare. The delay in posting workers to the facility is affecting lives,” Nana Ababio lamented.

He appealed to the DCE and other authorities to take swift action to operationalise the facility for the benefit of the community.

Responding to the concerns, Mr. Donkor admitted the delay was unacceptable and assured residents that the compound would be opened within two months.

“It’s unacceptable that a facility commissioned twice in 2017 has still not been put to use. We are committed to ensuring it begins serving the people very soon,” he said.
