Africa’s beloved musician and author, Kojo Antwi, recently presented a copy of his newly launched memoir, The Music Man: The Journey, to his long-time friend and Ivorian music icon, Frederic Desire Ehui, popularly known as Meiway.

The meeting took place in Paris, France, where Meiway resides, providing an opportunity for the duo to catch up and celebrate their enduring friendship.

During the presentation, Kojo Antwi handed over a copy of his memoir to his Ivorian brother, Meiway, who also contributed an acknowledgement in the book reflecting on how he first met the Maestro.

In the memoir, Meiway recounts their first encounter on stage in 2003 at the African Music Festival held at the National Theatre of Ghana. Performing as a guest star, Meiway and Kojo Antwi opened the concert with a cover of Al Jarreau, with Kojo carrying the Ivorian flag and Meiway carrying the Ghanaian flag. “It was an experience I still cherish to this day. He has since been my favourite artist and role model in Ghana,” Meiway wrote.

Both artists have been giants in the African music industry for decades, using their talent and influence to promote African culture and showcase the musical heritage of their respective countries.
