Management of Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SECTECH) has expressed gratitude to God after one of its students who sustained deep cutlass wounds during the just-ended Super Zonal Games was reported to be in a stable condition.
The student, Jerome Appiah of 3 Science 2 and a member of Croffie House, was attacked on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in an incident involving students of SECTECH and New Juaben Senior High School.
He was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital by the police and was discharged on Friday, February 6, 2026. The case is currently being handled by the Regional Criminal Investigations Department.
According to an eyewitness account, tensions erupted between students of the two schools during the games but were initially brought under control by the police.

After the intervention, SECTECH students were directed to return into the stadium, while New Juaben students were escorted towards Achika.
However, along the way, some New Juaben students reportedly spotted a SECTECH student eating waakye at a food joint around the 205 area. One of them allegedly pulled out a cutlass and attacked Jerome Appiah on his right shoulder, inflicting a deep wound.
The attacker is said to have scratched the cutlass on the road afterward, causing panic, before fleeing the scene in a pragia.
In a related development, management of the school also confirmed that a teacher and a student of Koforidua SECTECH sustained serious head injuries during the final volleyball match between SECTECH and Nsutam Senior High School.
The victims, identified as Mr. Henry Kudiabo of the Technical Department and Master Lawrence Ayivor of 2 Tech A3 and Okwabi House, were reportedly hit by stones allegedly thrown by Nsutam students.
The Ghana Red Cross Society provided immediate assistance before they were taken to the hospital.
Both Mr. Kudiabo and Master Ayivor are responding to treatment and are currently in a stable condition.
