Kofi Adu Domfeh vows six-month transformation of Ashanti GJA after election win

The newly elected Ashanti Regional Chairperson of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Kofi Adu Domfeh, has pledged to transform the association within his first six months in office.

Mr Domfeh secured victory in a rerun election on Friday, August 22, winning 20 out of 31 valid votes against Georgina Ama Ankomah, who polled 11.

The rerun followed irregularities in the June 30 elections, including breaches of GJA constitutional provisions and voter eligibility concerns.

Addressing journalists after his win, Domfeh described the outcome as the beginning of a “new dawn” for journalism in the Ashanti Region.

“A lot is expected of me and my team, and I can assure my colleagues that we will not disappoint. Within six months, the Ashanti GJA will experience real transformation,” he said.

He urged journalists in the region to remain united and rally behind him, stressing that his leadership would prioritize professionalism, accountability, and qualitative journalism.
