During the vibrant Kwafie Festival in Dormaa Ahenkro, a celebration rich in tradition and cultural heritage, popular Ghanaian journalist and actor Kofi Adomah Nwanwani experienced a life-altering incident.
Invited to cover the festivities, particularly the Dormaahene’s ceremonial rites, Kofi was filming when a sudden gunshot shattered the jubilant atmosphere.
A royal guard, taking part in the traditional musketry display, mistakenly fired his weapon towards Kofi instead of into the sky.
The gunpowder blast struck Kofi squarely in the face, severely injuring his eyes. The crowd was stunned as he cried out in pain, his vision immediately compromised.
Emergency medical care was swiftly administered, and Kofi was rushed to the hospital. The severity of his injuries became clear as he temporarily lost sight in both eyes.
His wife, Miracle Adoma, later spoke emotionally about the terrifying ordeal and the uncertainty surrounding her husband’s condition.
Due to the complexity of his injuries, Kofi was flown to Dubai for advanced medical treatment. Thankfully, doctors were able to restore vision in one of his eyes, marking a crucial step in his recovery.
In recent weeks, Kofi has been sharing glimpses of his healing process. A new video posted online shows him enjoying the serenity of nature, a symbolic moment of peace and resilience. Though the road to full recovery continues, Kofi Adomah’s spirit remains strong, and his latest update brings renewed hope to his many supporters.
