Kasoa-Winneba Highway robbery suspect jailed 25 years

The Kasoa-Ofaakor Circuit Court has sentenced Mohammed Bello to 25 years in prison with hard labour for his involvement in a robbery incident at Gomoa Dabenyin in the Central Region.

In a statement, the Central Regional Police Command revealed that Mohammed pleaded guilty to the charge of robbery and was convicted and sentenced accordingly.

He was arrested shortly after the attack, which occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, while attempting to flee the scene.

According to police reports, the gang ambushed motorists and robbed several passengers and drivers of cash, mobile phones, and personal belongings.

Four individuals sustained injuries during the operation and were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.

During a search following Mohammed’s arrest, police recovered GH₵3,740 in cash, two Samsung smartphones, a Tecno Spark 20, an Itel keypad phone, an Itel power bank, a lady’s purse, five sticks of cigarettes, a wristwatch, a headset, a mobile phone charger head, and a pair of sandals — which has since been identified by one of the victims.
