Kasoa sanitation crackdown: 7 arrested for littering as MCE issues warning

-

Seven individuals have been arrested by the sanitation taskforce of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly for various sanitation offences in Kasoa.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court to face legal action.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Seth Sabba Banini Serwornu disclosed this during a stakeholder dialogue on sanitation held to strategize on improving cleanliness in the municipality.

He warned residents to refrain from indiscriminate littering, especially in markets and along streets, as the Assembly plans to intensify its crackdown through a dedicated sanitation taskforce.

“We are not going to tolerate the continued abuse of our public spaces. Anyone caught littering will face the full rigours of the law,” the MCE stated.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Phillis Naa Koryo, pledged her support for the Assembly’s sanitation agenda. She announced plans to collaborate with the Assembly to secure a dedicated dumping site for refuse collected from the markets to improve waste management in Kasoa.

Additionally, ASP Emmanuel Amponsah, who oversees the Kasoa Central Business District, assured that the police will support enforcement efforts to maintain sanitation laws and keep the town’s principal streets clean.
