The Awutu Senya East Constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have condemned the recent demolition exercise at the Kasoa Market, which displaced nearly 1,000 petty traders.
According to the party, the exercise has caused severe hardship, leaving many traders without their sources of livelihood. They are urging the government to provide immediate compensation to support affected victims.
Speaking at a press conference, the constituency secretary criticised the handling of the demolition, while Campaign Coordinator Kojo Anim described the eviction as “total wickedness” against vulnerable traders.
Some party members also called on the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East to engage directly with the victims to address their concerns.
They further labelled the actions of the Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive, as troubling and insensitive.
