Karim Zito rallies Kotoko players to focus on Heart of Lions clash

Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has called on his players to put their CAF Confederation Cup triumph behind them and fully focus on their upcoming Ghana Premier League fixture against Heart of Lions.

The Porcupine Warriors advanced to the next round of the Confederation Cup after edging Nigerian side Kwara United 5-3 on aggregate in the preliminary round.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s Matchday 4 encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium, Zito urged his squad to avoid complacency and remain committed to their domestic ambitions.

“Samartex had the same problem, Nsoatreman had the same problem, so I told them, for now, we are thinking of Heart of Lions; all that we did against Kwara United should be put aside, Kwara United is now history,” he told the club’s media.

“If really our target is to win the Ghana Premier League, then we should beat Heart of Lions, so I don’t think that complacency will come,” he added.

Kick-off is scheduled for Sunday, October 5, at the Baba Yara Stadium.
