A former National Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kamal-Deen Abdullai, has expressed confidence that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will win the party’s upcoming presidential primary with at least 70% of total votes.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Kamal-Deen said the Vice President’s victory is “already blessed by God” and will come “whether rain or shine.”

He urged party members to remain united after the internal contest, emphasizing that Dr. Bawumia will need the support of all aspirants to rebuild the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

“Bawumia is winning the elections hands down; he will win with 70% of the votes. After the elections, it doesn’t mean he will run the campaign alone; he will need everyone on board. The other aspirants are gentle; I don’t dislike them. However, everyone has their time. What God has ordained as destiny is what will prevail,” he said.

Kamal-Deen warned that internal attacks and acrimony could undermine the party’s rebuilding efforts, particularly after losing key voter bases in the 2024 elections.

He also expressed concern over claims by an NDC MP alleging that she was assisted by someone within the NPP to win her seat, stressing the need for the party to address internal weaknesses.

“We should be mindful of our utterances, regardless of whom we support. We need to critically assess why we lost the general elections; we lost our core voters, so we should be cautious going into the primaries. Internal conflict will not help us. If we come together, complete the primaries without problems, get our executives in place, and work hard, I believe we can perform better and even beat the NDC. We should focus on what will benefit the party,” he added.
